Outdoor Living in the Garden

There’s an undeniable thrill in watching a landscaping project evolve from concept to tangible design. It’s an exciting achievement that every do – it – yourselfer needs to experience, at least once. When deciding to renew a home’s outdoor area, think about how you can reuse items that may not need replacing but just require some TLC. Not only will you remain in budget, but you will add your own personal touch and make the space that more meaningful.
Taken from Breakfast Television's 48 hour Backyard Makeover

A backyard remains an ever changing area – a blank canvas – that rewards those who patiently tend to their garden. Naturally, after working hard to maintain a well-kept landscape, who wouldn’t want to sit back and enjoy its beauty? A well covered deck that incorporates both seating and dining creates a place to unwind and relish in the outdoors.

Bring the garden onto a porch with hanging plants or strategically placed planters. This added touch not only softens but allows a gentle flow when the eye moves from the deck to the garden. Take it a step further and add some furnishings, such as a throw mat or rug, to complete the look by bringing the indoors out.

This Spring Find a Clutter Cure, Outdoors

Discovering clever ways to de-clutter is never easy. Simplify by separating spaces with bold mats and smart storage. Having attractive pieces that are functional and promote organization can tidy up an outdoor area within minutes. Try these seven nifty tricks that refine a space from disorder to sleek, sophisticated areas.

Retro Chic
This front door has a matte green finish to compliment the doormat’s floral print in its quirky blue and orange hues. These colours add warmth and flow seamlessly from one palette to the next. The mat’s neutral black backdrop creates an easy transition from the lime green front door to the blooming buds design adding depth to this entrance.  Having a front doormat minimizes mud on concrete and gives shoes a place to wipe-down before they enter the home.

Clad in navy blue, the front door seems to recede as the sleek white columns speak traditional. The mat definitely blends nicely as it offers a spot to rest when you walk up to the door. Floral prints give a shout out to spring and block clutter from entering the home as the doormat adds the scraping surface needed to remove dirt from under footwear.

This traditional entryway gets a wake up call with this doormats' vibrant paisley print. Its whimsy and copious design add fun to a boring look. The bold reds, tangy oranges and lemon yellows brighten and greet enthusiastically letting us know that it's retro chic.

Eco-Friendly Flooring
Concrete pavers are a drag and are not so easy to install. Try using rubber pavers instead. Lightweight and super easy to install it offers a simple solution when searching stores for a resurfacing alternative. This smart, eco-friendly system essentially covers up unsightly outdoor flooring. Simple, chic and environmentally conscious, envirotile™ is a must when creating a free flowing pied-a-tier.

Garage
Designate an area in the garage where storage takes the forefront.  Tidy up tools by making sure the selected section remains clutter free. To further separate, place one square stretch of tiles that can extend, if necessary, to create a comfortable workspace.

Stand Out Against the Crowd
Brightening up an entryway with planters that add curb appeal. Highlight the stunning flowers that boast sophistication with envirotile™ stepping stone as an under base. Made entirely from recycled rubber products, it prevents water from seeping in and staining concrete or wood. The plants will require attention but the rest will remain fuss-free.

Inspirational Thanksgiving Decor

Thanksgiving officially marks the onset to many more winter festivities. From Halloween, to Christmas, to New Years, all these holidays hold the same purpose – celebrating with family and friends while eating a delicious meal. Here are five fabulous harvest decor items.

Gettin’ Twiggy With It

You can get decorating tips from simply stepping outdoors. The barren trees are a definite call-out that winter is upon us, but, don’t fret, simply transcend by finding twig-garland patterns that have traditional harvest colour tones indicative to the season.

Pumpkin Pick Me Up

We often associate orange with Halloween. Not true! This bright colour can enhance a dull and boring room, so don’t limit it to one season. Styleathome.com talks about the power orange has in any home and we recommend it also.

Oh, For the Love of Pie!

When it comes to the holidays, there’s nothing better than dessert. Try incorporating neutral, earthy tones to warm up a room. We saw this great décor piece from etsy.com. Add our easy-to clean bamboo mat to the mix and this room will be as delicious as its accessories.

Turn Over a New Leaf

Embrace the faux fern, without the dirt and bugs. This outdoor mat is beautifully embellished with organic looking leaves. Made from recycled rubber tires, it’s eco-friendly and will have Mother Nature jumping for joy.

Embrace Fall ... Outdoors

Today marks the first day of fall. This may depress some, but most should find happiness in knowing that Halloween creeps a little closer. Yes. Exciting! We suggest decorating the outdoors for the new season by favoring a colorful flare in orange, red, green and yellow. Here are some inspiring outdoor looks that will sure to have you carving pumpkins in the yard.

This elegantly placed outdoor rug structures the walkway that leads to the overly embellished garden. The orange lanterns add color to finish the look.
We love this look. Why? It’s simply elegant. Our eco-friendly envirotile™ (in flat profile) creates a minimalist design; while the yellow throw cushions and maroon planter are a perfect combination for this condo balcony.
Until there’s snow on the ground we say, ‘it’s never too late for outdoor dining!” The rug’s rustic green forms a country feel that contrasts the traditional bistro set.
Multy Home’s Easy Tile™ utility flooring adds a textured look to the traditional white picket porch; the dining set modernizes it.
This lavish look provides a homey feel with its plush cushions and soft rug underfoot. We suggest furthering the experience with hot chocolate and a scented candle to fully embrace the autumn weather.
